Prostate problems-

The prostate is a gland that sits just below the bladder and in front of the rectum. It encircles the urethra and produces much of the fluid in semen. The most common prostate problem in men is benign prostatic hypertrophy. It is present in 50% of men by age 50. The prostate enlarges in response to stimulation by the hormone dihydrotestosterone. If it enlarges too much, it can obstruct the urethra making it difficult to urinate and empty the bladder completely.

The medications used to treat this condition help to decrease the level of dihydrotestosterone. Zinc and pumpkin seeds can help to decrease prostate size and symptoms.

Saw Palmetto- This herb is effective at blocking the formation of dihydrotestosterone and thus can help with benign prostatic hypertrophy. A number of studies have shown saw palmetto to be effective at reducing BPH symptoms.
Standardized extract (85-95% fatty acid content)- 160 mg twice a day
