Dr. Beth BurchGetting rid of warts naturally.Q. What can I do naturally to get rid of warts?A. Warts are caused by the papavo or wart viruses and are very common. One may have a
single wart or many, and is it possible to spread them on the body. They often go away
spontaneously after several months or may persist for years despite all kinds of treatment.
There are many treatments for warts. Conventional treatments include freezing or
electrocautery, the use of caustics like salicylic or tricholorocetic acids, or tretenoin
(retinoic acid, a type of vitamin A). In children, suggestion accompanied by an impressive
demonstration (shining a light on the wart) can be successful. My husband had his warts go
away overnight at the age of 5 when a visitor paid him 50 cents for them.
Alternative treatments are numerous. Application of the milky juice of dandelion or
milkweed to the wart; application of pineapple or papaya juice, cabbage juice, wheat germ
oil, castor oil or a small slice of potato or garlic; and soaking the wart(s) in hot water
or concentrated salt water have all been successful in some people. All of these treatments
must be used daily for several weeks The homeopathic remedy, Thuja, is often helpful. Try
taking a 6C potency three times a day for several weeks.
A strong immune system will help the body to get rid of the virus. For more on Warts
