For the past 18 years I have worked with the USDA Forest Service and private landowners to propagate an ethical and sustainable harvest with the goal of providing the very highest standards in professional service. While working as a wildcrafter of medicinal plants, it has come to my attention that there is a growing concern for the quality and integrity of wildcrafted plant material. While learning about the plants I harvest and seeking to optimize the medicinal value of the product I have also tried to harvest in ways that protect plant populations.
It is my belief that if you get to know the plants and understand the life force within them, you learn that the vitality of the plant relates to its medicinal value, and that whether organically grown or wildcrafted the same standards should apply. Other than finding plants growing away from obvious sources of pollutants, such as agricultural chemical residues and auto exhaust, the most important things are that the herbs are growing in the right habitat, harvested at the proper time and preserved in such a way as to maximize the vital life force that is passed on in whatever form of medicine they are used in.
